It is time to say goodbye to Salamanca
---------------------------------------------------
Our trip is coming to an end... But today we head off to Zamora on another adventure! The Plaza Mayor has been cleaned up so I made a movie! Just another wonderful day in Spain.
---------------------------------------------------------
Today we headed off to the mountains to the small village of La Alberca. Still following the journal as our guide we have a chance meeting with the past. Having dinner at 9:30 is now the norm, but requires late night walks. Join us as we walk the city at night.

Above is the focal point of the Plaza Mayor. Many say it is the most beautiful in Spain! However, there is a book festival ongoing and the Plaza is filled with portable trailers cluttering the square. To steal a line from Jimmy Buffett - They looked a lot better as beer cans!
So no pictures of the Plaza until the trailers are all gone.

Everywhere we went there were school groups. Children of all ages walking together. It was so nice to see the youth enjoying the museums, gardens, and streets of this very beautiful city – Madrid!
------------------------------------------------------------------
The feast of the patron of Madrid brings out the people in period dress. Music and dancing can be heard throughout the streets.

The Plaza Mayor in Salamanca is the largest plaza in Spain. Started in the early 1700s, the sandstone structure is stunning and truly is the center of Salamanca. Snapped with a Kodak Instamatic in 1972, this photo does not do justice to the beauty of the workmanship of this grand square.
There is nothing like jamón ibérico and jamón serrano! I was thrilled when I saw the serrano at Wegman's and treat myself occasionally.
